Collection: Great North Museum: Hancock

The Great North Museum: Hancock was purpose built in Newcastle as a natural history museum in 1884 to house the growing collections of the Natural History Society of Northumbria. The redevelopment of he building in 2009 brought together the collections of the former Shefton Museum, Museum of Antiquaries, and Hancock Museum.

Highlights of the museum include Mummies from Ancient Egypt, a planetarium, a life size replica T-rex skeleton, displays showing the wonder and diversity of Northumbria and the animal and plant kingdoms beyond and so much more!
