The Pitmen Painters by William Feaver was the inspiration for Lee Hall to write the the play the Pitmen Painters which debuted at the Live Theatre in Newcastle in 2007then going to to the National Theatre in London's West End and Broadway in New York.  Their work is on permanent display at Woodhorn Museum and is the first collection by an amateur art group to go on permanent display anywhere in the world

This core collection of paintings is displayed at Woodhorn Museum Ashington, Northumberland. Money raised from sales and royalties are used to preserve and display the collection of paintings.
